Our diamonds are supplied by one of the largest lab grown diamond producers in the world, where they are sustainably grown out of a state-of-the-art lab using High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) and Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) technology.
HPHT is more costly and less energy efficient. The thermodynamic process involves placing a diamond seed into pure carbon, then exposing it to intense pressure and heat. The carbon attaches to the diamond seed in 14 different directions and forms a rough diamond with a complex cuboctahedron shape.
CVD is a more economical and sustainable process, using vacuum chambers to convert carbon-heavy gasses into plasma with less energy consumption. Kinetics allow the carbon atoms inside the chamber to build on top of the diamond seed in a single vertical direction so the rough diamond grows into a cleaner square shape.
With no mining involved, our diamonds are conflict-free. Once created, they are cut and polished to the most exacting standards internationally by our master craftsmen – there is no question around the provenance of your diamond jewelry.
The final seal of approval on our diamonds comes from the International Gemological Institute (IGI) which certifies them just like a mined diamond. This indeed means that they have the same physical, chemical, and optical characteristics as mined diamonds, and exhibit the same fire, scintillation, and sparkle. The only difference is our diamonds are at a lower price point!
As of 2018, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) considers both lab grown and mined diamonds to be real. The only difference between the two is their point of origin. Unlike a mined diamond, a lab grown diamond such as a DIAMIND diamond has guaranteed origin.
The naked eye cannot tell the difference between a lab-grown and mined diamond. Most trained gemologists cannot tell the difference between a polished mined diamond and a polished lab-grown diamond without using advanced technology— traditional methods and machinery cannot tell the two apart.
Lab grown diamonds can be traced directly to the laboratory where they were formed. Mined diamonds, even those labeled as “ethical” or “conflict-free,” cannot promise the same.
Lab grown diamonds are produced without the same negative impact a mine brings to the land, wildlife, and local workforce.
Lab grown diamonds such as DIAMIND's are often more affordable than mined diamonds parallel in quality. Customers are then able to purchase lab-grown diamonds higher in carat weight thanks to this characteristic.
